About the Department
The Department of Fisheries Science and Aquatic Resources, University of Jaffna, is a leading academic and research institution dedicated to fisheries, aquaculture, aquatic ecosystems, and sustainable resource management in Sri Lanka. The Department provides multidisciplinary education, scientific training, and research opportunities that address emerging challenges related to fisheries sustainability, climate change, biodiversity conservation, aquatic pollution, and coastal community development.
Through teaching, research, field-based learning, and community engagement, the Department aims to develop competent graduates and researchers capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the fisheries and aquatic resources sector at national and international levels.
