From the Head’s Desk
Welcome to the Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna. The department is a centre for teaching, research, and training in Fisheries Science and Aquatic Resource Management in Sri Lanka. Located in the Northern coastal region, it is closely connected to rich marine, lagoon, and coastal ecosystems that support both biodiversity and local livelihoods.
Our programmes provide strong academic foundations, practical training, and analytical skills to address challenges in fisheries, aquaculture, marine conservation, and sustainable resource management.
